Dr. Mary P. Lupo is a board certified dermatologist, founder of the Lupo Center for Aesthetic and General Dermatology, co-founder of the Cosmetic Bootcamp, and clinical professor of dermatology at Tulane University School of Medicine. Her innovation in 2004 for live injection formats at CME meetings and her early vision of embracing a holistic vision of aging utilizing skin care, injections and devices have made her an internationally recognized innovator in non-surgical skin rejuvenation. She is an honor graduate of Newcomb College of Tulane University and Tulane Medical school in 1980. She completed her residency in dermatology at Tulane in 1984. In 1983, as chief resident of dermatology at Tulane, she added cosmetic injectable therapy, sclerotherapy and chemical peels to the core curriculum of training for Tulane residents. This resident cosmetic clinic continues to this day.
As a frequent member of advisory boards, teaching faculties and as an investigator in FDA clinical trials, she has impacted the development and improvement of non-surgical treatments such as neuromodulation, dermal fillers, energy devices and skin care products. She currently holds licensure in Louisiana, Colorado, and Texas. She has lifetime certification from the American Board of Dermatology and voluntarily recertified in 2009. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and American Society for Dermatological Surgery for which she served as member of the board of directors and has received their teaching award. Dr Lupo is an elected member of the American Dermatological Association. She is past president of the Women’s Dermatological Society and has received the WDS President’s award, Mentor of the Year award and the Wilma Bergfeld Visionary and Leadership award for her contributions to her field. She is past treasurer of the Louisiana Dermatological Society. She has been named top doctor by Castle Connelly yearly since 2013 and a top dermatologist and top cosmetic doctor locally in New Orleans by Gambit Newspaper and New Orleans Magazine. Dr. Lupo is frequently quoted in beauty and lay publications and internet platforms. She has appeared on local TV stations as well as on E! Entertainment Network, The View and CNN news as a go-to expert in dermatology and cosmetic procedures. She is the author of more than 90 medical publications and more than 485 peer presentations. She has been a principal investigator in over 40 clinical trials. Dr. Lupo is a frequent speaker and live injection specialist at AAD, ASDS and various facial plastic surgery meetings both in the United States and abroad. When not working, Dr Lupo enjoys her family: husband of 45 years, 2 children, 4 grandchildren. She is currently without a dog but stay tuned as her mourning periods usually end with a new puppy. Cooking, travel, reading, hiking are her favorite pastimes. |
